The Veteran Podcast network was started with a single podcast by Joe Stone in early 2020 with the goal of amplifying the voices of veterans and keeping them informed of current events that are of interest to the veteran community. The podcast itself got off to a rocky start, but in early 2021 things settled down and the podcast was shortened into the news-only version it is today.
Joe is a 15-year, US Army veteran with 4 overseas tours that included time in Iraq (twice), Afghanistan, and even Guantanamo Bay, Cuba (GITMO). He earned the Bronze Star Medal as a Sergeant (E-5) while serving in Iraq in 2004. It was a tough career that also included a break in service, two-divorces with kids, battles with mental health, and when the back problems started, he ended his last few years working as a Training NCO and Task Force Operations NCOIC. He was medically discharged in 2012 with a service connected disability.
After his service, he met his wife, Elizabeth and remarried. He began volunteering in the community and the local VFW, quickly elevating to the position of Senior Vice Commander. He also helped found the veteran non-profit What They Signed Up For, and continues to support them to this day.
Joe is currently the owner/operator of Stone Media, a media consulting and production company, and is also the Director of Operations for branded podcast company, Jam Street Media.
